Govt advises Nepalis staying in India, Pakistan to stay alert, prioritize their safety

KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi has urged Nepalis living in India to remain vigilant and prioritize their safety.

Following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the embassy has advised Nepali citizens in India to exercise caution and stay alert.

“In light of the situation after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the embassy requests all Nepalis in India to remain vigilant, identify nearby emergency and safety service locations, and follow security instructions issued by the Government of India,” the embassy stated in a press release on Friday.

Additionally, the embassy has urged Nepalis to contact the Nepalese Embassy in New Delhi or the Nepali Consulate in Kolkata for assistance and coordination in case of an emergency.

Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised Nepalis currently staying in Pakistan to contact the Embassy of Nepal in Islamabad if they need any immediate assistance. “In light of recent developments, the Government of Nepal is fully committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of Nepali students and other citizens in Pakistan,” the ministry said in a statement, adding that the Nepali mission in Islamabad is in continuous contact with all Nepali students and citizens staying in Pakistan.
