KATHMANDU: Gandaki Province’s newly appointed Chief Minister, Surendra Raj Pandey, took the oath of office and secrecy on Wednesday evening.
Province Chief Dilli Raj Bhatta administered the oath of office and secrecy to Pandey.
Earlier on the day, Province Chief Bhatta appointed Pandey for his second term as the Chief Minister as per Article 168 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal on the Supreme Court’s order.
Chief Minister Pandey has appointed two ministers in his cabinet. He has appointed Bindu Kumar Thapa of Kaski as Minister of Social Development and Dr. Tokraj Gurung from Lamjung as Minister for Finance. Both are province assembly members from the Nepali Congress.
On the occasion, Province Chief Bhatta also administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers.
This is Thapa’s second stint in the Gandaki cabinet. He earlier served as the Minister of Law, Communications and Parliamentary Affairs in the cabinet of Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokhrel.
Dr. Gurung, however, has been appointed minister for the first time.
