KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the issues related to identity can be addressed through full implementation of the constitution.
Speaking at a meeting with the families of martyrs as part of the party’s Tarai/Madhesh-centric campaign in Kachankewal of Jhapa on Monday, Dahal said implementing the concepts of autonomous regions, special regions, and protected areas as outlined in the constitution can largely address the issue of identity. “We should prioritize the implementation of the constitution to address identity-related issues of various communities. Constitutional amendments can be pursued if these issues are still not resolved,” he added.
Prachanda recalled that the party could not advance important agendas, including identity-related issues, due to the compulsion to draft the constitution. “We have now taken a policy of prioritizing the agendas of oppressed classes and communities,” Dahal said. “We have launched a campaign to reconnect with its class and community which had been disconnected in the past.”
