KATHMANDU: Four ministers from the CPN-UML have resigned from the Lumbini provincial government.
The ministers who stepped down from Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya on Wednesday include Bhumishwar Dhakal, Dinesh Panthi, Khem Saru Magar and Sita Sharma Chaudhary.
The resignations come amid preparations for a transition in leadership under an agreement between the coalition partners, the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML.
Under the power-sharing deal, Acharya is expected to step down from his post to pave the way for a Nepali Congress lawmaker.
However, UML sources said Acharya is likely to remain in office until the provincial government’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year is presented.
