KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has announced new dates for its postponed 60th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and elections.

According to the apex body of the Nepali private sector, the AGM and elections would now be held in Kathmandu on May 4 and 5.

The AGM and elections, earlier scheduled for April 12 and 13, were postponed following an interim order from the Patah High Court. The court issued the interim order, hearing a writ petition filed by Nepal Petroleum Transport Entrepreneurs Federation over membership issues.

As per the revised schedule, the opening ceremony will take place at Hotel Royal Tulip, Lalitpur, while the election will be held at the Nepal Academy Hall in Kathmandu.

Incumbent Senior Vice President Anjan Shrestha and Vice President Hem Raj Dhakal are fielding their respective panels in the election. Shrestha will be automatically elected to the President after the election. However, FNCCI will hold elections for the President as well from the next AGM onwards.

A special general convention of the FNCCI held in December 2024 unanimously amended its statute to reintroduce the direct election of its president by scrapping the 2016 provision where the senior vice president automatically assumed the top post.
