KATHMANDU: The government has promoted five Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) to the position of Additional Inspector General (AIG).
A cabinet meeting held on Monday took a decision to this end. The promotion proposal was submitted to the cabinet by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the recommendations of the Recommendation Committee formed by the ministry.
The committee had recommended Basanta Bahadur Kunwar, Tek Prasad Rai, Deepak Thapa, Shyamlal Gyawali and Kiran Bajracharya for promotion. Kunwar is serving as the chief of Madhesh Province, Rai, Thapa and Gyawali are police chiefs of Lumbini, Bagmati and Koshi provinces. Bajracharya is currently posted at the Nepal Police headquarters.
One of these will become the Inspector General of Nepal Police when incumbent IC Dhiraj Pratap Singh completes his term later this month.
