KATHMANDU: The Federal Democratic Front has decided to support the candidate of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) in the upcoming by-election in the Rupandehi-3 constituency of the House of Representatives.
A meeting of the Front held in Kathmandu on Tuesday decided to field NUP’s candidate as its common candidate in the by-election.
However, Janamat Party, one of the members of the Front, has decided to field its own candidate in the by-election.
The Election Commission is holding the by-election on November 3. The seat became vacant after the demise of Deepak Bohora of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) on April 1.
Senior leader of the Tarai-Madhesh Loktantrik Party, Dr Vijay Kumar Singh, said the meeting also decided to form a uniform stance on constitutional amendments and jointly raise relevant issues to push for necessary changes.
It also condemned recent interference during the passage of the Federal Civil Service Bill in the House of Representatives, terming it a serious offense against democratic and parliamentary norms.
The Front also expressed disappointment over the recent decision of the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court regarding 52 appointments made in different constitutional bodies.
According to Dr Singh, the meeting also decided to draw the attention of the government toward the shortage of chemical fertilizers for farmers.
