Eight people trapped in floods rescued in Sudurpashchim

DHANGADHI: Eight people trapped due to floods were rescued successfully in Kailali and Kanchanpur districts of Sudurpashchim Province on Monday.

Six people trapped in the rain-swollen Godavari River in Kailali were rescued to a safer place on Monday night. According to the Area Police Office, Malakheti, a team of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel was deployed for the rescue work.

“We rescued five men and one woman at around 11 pm on Monday,” District Police Office, Kailali, said.

Likewise, a separate team of the Armed Police Force rescued two women who were trapped on an island of Syali River of Kanchanpur.

A team under the command of DSP Prem Rawal rescued Nirmala Bhandari (4) and Gaumtai Saud (35). “They have been handed over to their respective families,” Rawal said.
