KATHMANDU: At least eight people died and 16 others were injured in a road accident at Bucchakot on the BP Highway in Kavre district on Friday afternoon.
According to the District Police Office, Kavre, a passenger bus heading to Kharpachowk in Roshi Municipality from Banepa fell some 200 meters off the road at Bucchakot in Namobuddha-2 at around 2:15 pm.
“Sixteen, including the driver of the bus, were injured in the accident. The injured are receiving treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital,” said DSP Rabin Bista.
Pictures shared on social media showed bus parts scattered all over the hill and locals carrying the injured up to the road.
Police say further investigation into the accident is underway.
