Dipesh Pun remanded for eight days*

KATHMANDU: The Rupandehi District Court has granted the police permission to keep Dipesh Pun, the son of former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, in custody for eight days.

Dipesh was arrested in Kathmandu on Friday in connection with gold smuggling. However, he was taken to Rupandehi for an investigation into the cooperative fraud case first. He has been accused of misappropriating funds parked by depositors in the Butwal-based Supreme Saving and Credit Cooperative.

Based on statements provided by Dipesh, police have arrested several other promoters and staffers Supreme Saving and Credit Cooperative for investigation.
