KATHMANDU: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Nepal Police, Ashok Singh, has tendered his resignation after questions were raised against his academic certificates and date of birth.
DIG Singh submitted his resignation letter at the police headquarters on Wednesday. He had been serving as the chief of the Sudurpashchim Province Police Office.
A case was filed against him at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) last week. One Bishwa Prakash Bhetwal filed the case, claiming that DIG Singh has forged his academic certificates and that he has already crossed 58 years of age.
In his application, Bhetwal claimed that DIG Singh submitted a fake academic certificate brought from India to secure his promotion. He has also claimed that DIG Singh has already crossed 58 years of age.
DIG Singh was one of the candidates for promotion to Assistant Inspector General (AIG).
