KATHMANDU: In a bizarre incident, a 60-year-old man in Dhading was killed by hitmen whom he had hired to murder his wife.
Chudamani Kandel, a resident of Gajuri Rural Municipality-2, was found dead in his toilet with a rope tied around his neck on April 9. Police suspected murder as there were multiple injuries in the body.
Issuing a statement on Friday, the District Police Office, Dhading, said Kandel had paid Rs 400,000 to Akkal Bahadur Praja to carry out the murder of his wife, Sushmita.
Praja enlisted two accomplices, Prithalal Tamang and Sanjala Moktan, to assist in the crime. After the team failed to complete the task despite multiple attempts, Kandel demanded his money back. Instead of returning the cash, the trio turned on Kandel and murdered him.
Police have arrested all three suspects, who hail from Raksirang Rural Municipality-9 of Makwanpur, for investigation into the case.
