DGO first company in Nepal to receive OTT license

KATHMANDU: DGO, an OTT streaming platform operated by Dish Home Digital Pvt Ltd, has become the first Nepali company to obtain an OTT licence in Nepal.

According to the company, it received the OTT licence from the Department of Information and Broadcasting under the Ministry of Information and Communication.

With the licence, the OTT service operated by the company has officially come under Nepal’s existing legal and regulatory framework.

The ministry amended the National Broadcasting Regulations, 1995, last week, requiring both foreign and domestic OTT service providers to obtain official permission to operate in Nepal.

DGO said the licence demonstrates its capability, credibility and long-term commitment to distributing digital content in line with international standards. The company believes the development will provide an important foundation for connecting Nepali OTT platforms with the global digital entertainment market.

The subscription-based digital streaming platform offers a wide range of entertainment content, including movies, web series, television programmes, live broadcasts, sports, documentaries and children’s content through a secure, convenient and authorised platform.

DGO is also the only authorized OTT platform in Nepal with the rights to stream matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. 2026 FIFA World Cup
