KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has urged the public not to be swayed by rumors regarding the financial stability of banks and financial institutions.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the NRB expressed concern over unfounded allegations and negative publicity surrounding institutions under its supervision. “The central bank diligently monitors the financial status and transactions of all banks and financial institutions. Deposits held by the general public in these institutions are secure,” stated the NRB.
Furthermore, the NRB emphasized its oversight of capital reserves, credit-deposit ratios, liquidity, and other financial indicators of banks and financial institutions licensed under its regulations. “The NRB issues instructions whenever issues arise concerning these indicators. Ensuring the safety of people’s deposits remains our paramount concern during the supervision of these institutions,” it added.
