KATHMANDU: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court, challenging the home ministry’s decision to deploy traffic law violators as traffic volunteers on the streets.
Rabindra Poudel, Akash Kumar Bhatta, Pramesh Paudel, Ujjwal Mali, Imamul Haq and Raju Aryal filed the writ petition, challenging the decision.
They have argued in the petition that the forceful deployment of minor violators on the streets has infringed upon their rights against torture enshrined in Articles 3 and 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 22 of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015.
They have demanded that the apex court order to quash the decision.
