Death toll in Pepsicola road accident rises to two

KATHMANDU: A constable from the Armed Police Force (APF), who sustained injuries in a road accident near Pepsicola, Kathmandu, on Sunday morning, has passed away.

Usha Thapa, who served in APF’s No. 20 Disaster Rescue Valley Battalion in Sinamangal, lost her life while receiving treatment at the Civil Hospital, according to police. Her fellow APF Constable, Swasthani Khadka, is currently undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

With this, the death toll in the road accident has reached two. Raj Bhattarai (28) from Sarlahi succumbed to his injuries during treatment a few hours earlier.

The accident occurred when a passenger bus collided with a pickup truck, a scooter, and a motorcycle near Chhapro, along the Pepsicola-Kandaghari road, around 7:30 am on Sunday.

Kumar Bahadur Khati (52) from Dolakha, Kalpana BK (23) from Udyaypur, and Ramita Praja (19) from Makwanpur were also injured in the accident.
