KATHMANDU: The death toll from floods in the Bhotekoshi River, known as Trishuli downstream, in Rasuwa has reached 258, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
According to the authority, the bodies of two people have been recovered in Rasuwa, 12 in Nuwakot, 27 in Dhading, 20 in Gorkha, 108 in Chitwan, 12 in Tanahun, 62 in Nawalparasi East and 15 in Nawalparasi West.
A total of 13,295 security personnel have been deployed for search, rescue and relief operations, the NDRRMA said. This includes 7,250 Nepal Police personnel, 4,200 Nepali Army personnel and 1,845 personnel from the Armed Police Force.
The NDRRMA said 351 people were rescued today through 69 helicopter flights.
According to the NDRRMA, 910 people are still missing. They include 28 Nepal Police personnel, 44 Nepali Army personnel, 13 Armed Police Force personnel, 15 Department of Customs employees, four Department of Immigration employees, and 161 people from Rasuwa and one person from Nuwakot.
A total of 517 foreign nationals and 127 Nepali citizens are also unaccounted for.
