KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Joint Coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal met Nepali Congress (NC) leader Shekhar Koirala in Biratnagar on Friday.
Dahal and Nepal are in Biratnagar to attend the Koshi Province Unity Meeting and Training Program.
The nearly 45-minute meeting focused on the country’s current political situation, the role of parliament, cooperation among major political parties, the latest developments within the Nepali Congress (NC) and other issues of national importance.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Dahal said the discussion centered on contemporary political issues. He said they also exchanged views on the ongoing general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), the current state of the NC, and the broader political situation.
Similarly, Nepal described the meeting as a routine political dialogue. He added that the three shared their perspectives on national affairs.
According to Dinesh Chandra Dhapaliya, personal secretary to Koirala, the meeting also covered the current political situation, inter-party cooperation and future political strategies.
The leaders also met members of the Koirala family and observed the aftermath of the fire that had recently occurred at Koirala’s residence. During the visit, Dahal pointed toward the meeting room and asked, “This is Girijababu’s meeting room, isn’t it?” Koirala replied, “Yes, it is.”
Amid evolving political developments in the country and increasing dialogue among top leaders of major political parties, the meeting between the three leaders is being viewed as politically significant.
