Curfew lifted, prohibitory orders enforced in Sunsari, Dhanusha

KATHMANDU: With the situation gradually returning to normalcy in Tarai districts of Koshi and Madhesh provinces, the District Administration Offices of Sunsari and Dhanusha have lifted the indefinite curfew imposed in various parts of the districts.

A notice issued by Sunsari’s Chief District Officer Ishwori Prasad Aryal states that the curfew has been relaxed from 8:30 am to 5 pm on Saturday.

Although the curfew has been lifted, the Sunsari administration has enforced a prohibitory order under the Local Administration Act, 1971, to maintain law and order. According to the order, gatherings of more than five people in designated areas are strictly prohibited.

The restriction applies to a 200-meter stretch on both sides of the East-West Highway in Wards 16 and 17 of Itahari Sub-metropolitan City, Wards 1 and 5 of Ramdhuni Municipality, as well as the entire areas of Inaruwa, Duhabi, Bhokraha Narsingh, Koshi, Gadhi, Dewanganj, Harinagar and Barju.

Earlier, an indefinite curfew had been imposed from 9:00 pm on July 28 until further notice.

Similarly, the local administration of Dhanusha has also lifted curfew and imposed prohibitory orders from 10 am.

As per the order issued by Dhanusha Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Luitel, gatherings of more than five people are prohibited in the designated areas.

The prohibition applies from Sinurjoda Chowk to Laxmipur Bagewa in the north, Belauni Road to Rastriya Secondary School in the east, Nagarain Municipality to Nagarain Chowk in the south, and Sinurjoda to Kadari Mosque in the west.
