Prime Minister Sushila Karki
KATHMANDU: A contempt of court case has been registered at the Supreme Court against Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
Advocate Prem Silwal filed the petition arguing that Prime Minister Karki has failed to comply with the Supreme Court’s order not to immediately implement the government’s decision to recall several ambassadors.
According to Supreme Court Spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala, the hearing on the petition has been scheduled for November 23.
The interim government, led by Karki, on September 16, decided to recall ambassadors appointed by the previous administration to 11 countries.
However, a division bench of Justices Saranga Subedi and Shreekanta Paudel, on November 2, issued an interim order instructing the government to maintain the status quo and not implement the decision to recall the ambassadors immediately.
However, a day after the court’s order, the government directed the recalled ambassadors to return and report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
