CIP recognition conferred on 30 business firms, bodies [With List]

KATHMANDU: The government has honored 30 business firms and institutions with the Commercially Important Person (CIP) recognition for their significant contributions to national economic growth, particularly in export and trade.

Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Damodar Bhandari conferred the CIP awards to 21 business firms and nine representative bodies of the private sector amid a ceremony in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal, and former Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal have received honorary CIP recognition.

Similarly, CIP recognitions were also provided to the Presidents of the Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal,  Federation of Export Entrepreneurs Nepal, Nepal Chhurpi Traders Association, Nepal Carpet Manufacutrers and Exporters Association, Garment Association of Nepal and Nepal Wool Felt Producers & Exporters Association of Nepal for facilitating export of goods worth over Rs 5 billion to third countries in fiscal years 2022/23 and 2023/24.

A dedicated lounge has been arranged at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for the CIP recipients to facilitate their hassle-free travels. Likewise, they also get unhindered access to the Singha Durbar premises.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Bhandari said the government was committed to strengthening cooperation with the private sector to achieve national prosperity. “CIP recognition is not just ceremonial; it also boosts the morale of the entrepreneurs and exporters,” he added.
