CIB starts probing misappropriation of deposits in Miteri cooperatives

KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has launched an investigation into the misuse of deposits in Miteri Saving and Credit Cooperatives Ltd.

According to CIB Spokesperson SP Hobindra Bogati, the bureau started the investigation after a complaint regarding the misuse of deposits was lodged. “After the complaint was lodged, we have started an investigation into the employees and board members of the concerned cooperative institution,” Bogati said.

It has been reported that Kumbharaj Gurung, the chairperson of the cooperative, registered a complaint with the Office of the Cooperative Registrar last month, alleging that its General Manager, Jyoti Gurung, defrauded the cooperative of Rs 125 million.

Nepali Congress Vice President Dhanraj Gurung is also connected to the case. Jyoti is Dhanraj’s former wife.
