Chaudhary, Thapa sent to four-day police custody

KATHMANDU: Police have secured a four-day remand of businessman Arun Chaudhary and Ajit Narayan Thapa, who were arrested earlier in the day for an investigation into a case of converting government land into private property.

The Kathmandu District Court allowed police to keep Chaudhary and Thapa in custody for investigation for four days. Chaudhary has been accused of converting 10 ropanis of land belonging to the then Bansbari Leather and Shoes Company into private property. Thapa is the former chairman of the company.

Chaudhary is the chairman and managing director of CG Holdings – a business conglomerate involved in beverage, automobiles, education, FMCG, hospitality, financial services, and real estate sectors.
