Charred body recovered from Dharan’s Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket

ITAHARI: A charred body was recovered from the ruins of the Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket in Dharan, which was vandalized and set on fire by protesters on Tuesday.

According to Inspector Jiban Kunwar of the Area Police Office, Dharan, the body was completely burned. “Only the head was recovered from the supermarket’s second floor. The victim has yet to be identified,” he said.

Police said several individuals entered the closed supermarket with the intent of looting after the Gen Z rally concluded at Bhanu Chowk. A fire broke out during the incident, resulting in one fatality.

Although fire engines were immediately deployed, the blaze could not be fully brought under control.

Police added that they are still searching for others involved in the incident and investigating the case.
