CG Motors lifts wraps off AION V electric SUV

KATHMANDU: CG Motors has unveiled the GAC AION V electric SUV in the Nepali market.

According to the company, the Aion V is a compact SUV designed to balance elegance and utility. Measuring 4605 mm in length, 1854 mm in width, and 1660 mm in height, it offers a spacious cabin with a long wheelbase of 2775 mm for smoother handling. Its exterior features H-shaped LED headlamps, a polished side profile with 19-inch multi-spoke wheels, and vertically arranged LED taillights.

Inside, the cabin exudes sophistication with a 14.6-inch control screen, leatherette seats with heating and ventilation, a panoramic glass roof and a 9-speaker sound system. Eight-point massage seats and in-built refrigerators are the segment-first feature in the car, according to the company.

Powered by a 150 kW PMS motor, the Aion V delivers 204 PS and 240 Nm of torque. It features a front-wheel-drive system, an automatic transmission, and a top speed of 160 km/h.

The Aion V comes with two battery options: a 62 kWh LFP battery offering a 520 km range and a 75 kWh LFP battery providing a 650 km range (CLTC cycle). Both support AC and DC fast charging, with DC fast chargers capable of charging the car from 10% to 80% in about an hour.

The Aion V prioritizes safety with airbags and the ADiGO Pilot Intelligent Driving Assistance system. It offers 427 liters of storage, expandable to 987 liters with folded rear seats.

This is the second offering from GAC stable in the Nepali market after the AION Y.

The AION V Elite with a 62.7 kWh battery costs Rs 6.499 million, while the AION V Luxury with a 75.3 kWh battery can be driven home for Rs 6.999 million.

The car comes with an impressive warranty package – an 8-year (or 200,000 km) warranty on the Battery and Motor and a five-year (or 120,000 km) warranty on non-moving parts.
