BRI grants acceptable, not loans: NC

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has maintained that only grants would be acceptable in projects under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba called the meeting of the party’s incumbent and former office bearers to discuss contemporary political issues. Projects to be implemented under BRI was one of the agendas discussed in the meeting

After the meeting, Chief of NC’s Publicity Department, Min Bishwakarma, said NC was positive about BRI projects. “The NC’s viewpoint on BRI is that grants are acceptable for us, but we are not in a position to accept loans,” he added.
