KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has unanimously endorsed Binod Sharma as Supreme Court Justice.
A meeting of the committee held on Friday took the decision to this end. Sharma was recommended for the position by the Judicial Council on August 27.
Previously, the committee had given the general public a 10-day period to file complaints against Sharma. However, it received no complaints against Sharma.
Following the meeting, committee chair Pashupati Shamser Rana announced that Sharma’s appointment as a Supreme Court Justice, as recommended by the Judicial Council, had been unanimously approved.
Earlier, Sharma expressed commitment to expediting court proceedings and providing effective legal remedies. He also pledged to uphold the principles of separation of powers and to work diligently to maintain the public’s trust in the court.
