KATHMANDU: Kushal Bhurtel has become the second Nepali player to hit six sixes in an over.
He achieved the feat during Nepal’s trouncing of China by 221 runs in the 2026 Asian Games Men’s Cricket Qualifier in Singapore on Sunday
In the ninth over, bowled by Chen Zhuo Yu, Bhurtel scored sixes off the first five balls. After Chen bowled the sixth ball wide, Bhurtel clubbed the next ball for six as well.
The feat placed Bhurtel in an elite group of batters to have struck six sixes in a single over in T20 Internationals, joining Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, and fellow Nepali teammate Dipendra Singh Airee. Airee hit six sixes in an over for Nepal against Qatar in 2024.
Bhurtel went on to score 129 runs off just 43 balls as Nepal piled up 313 runs for the loss of two wickets in their allotted 20 overs—one run short of their highest total of 314 runs scored in the match against Mongolia during the 2023 Asian Games.
Malla provided strong support with an explosive 85 off 47 deliveries, while Rohit Paudel remained unbeaten on 69 from just 21 balls.
Ma Quianchen and Deng Jinqi claimed one wicket each for China.
In reply, China folded for 92 runs in 19.2 overs. Kushal Malla picked up three wickets for Nepal, while Sandeep Lamichhane and Sompal Kami claimed two each and Nandan Yadav chipped in with a wicket.
