KATHMANDU: The bodies of 162 people caught in the flash flood in the Bhotekoshi River have been found at various locations.
According to details released by Nepal Police, the highest number of bodies, 64, were found in Chitwan, followed by 27 in Dhading, 26 in Nawalparasi East, 20 in Gorkha, 12 in Nuwakot, nine in Tanahun, and two each in Nawalparasi West and Rasuwa.
The Nepal Police headquarters said 28 people are still missing.
A total of 3,318 police personnel have been deployed in various districts for rescue, relief and assistance following the flood in the Bhotekoshi River, the police headquarters said.
Forty-one people are receiving treatment at various hospitals.
According to National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, a landslide triggered by a 4.4 magnitude earthquake triggered an avalanche and rock slide. The debris was then carried downstream by Lhende River which meets Bhotekoshi River at Rasuwagadhi on the Nepal-China border.
