KATHMANDU: A total of 469 bodies have been found following the flash flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa, according to the Nepal Police.
According to the latest update, 19 bodies were recovered in Rasuwa, 33 in Dhading, 44 in Gorkha, 110 in Nawalparasi East, 37 in Nuwakot, 106 in Chitwan, 178 in Tanahun and 27 in Nawalparasi West.
Similarly, 977 people remain out of contact following the floods, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
Among those unaccounted for are 25 Nepal Police personnel, 45 Nepali Army personnel, 13 Armed Police Force personnel, 15 Customs Office employees, four Immigration Office employees, 161 people from Rasuwa and one from Nuwakot.
The data also shows that 66 people from Makwanpur remain out of contact. Similarly, 517 foreign nationals and 127 Nepali citizens residing abroad who had come to Nepal for tourism are among those unaccounted for.
According to the NDRRMA, 3,253 people have been rescued so far. A total of 15 helicopters — six belonging to the Nepali Army and nine operated by the private sector — have been deployed for rescue operations.
