KATHMANDU: Bhoop Dev Shah from Achham has been nominated as the General Secretary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
A meeting of the party’s Central Committee held on Monday approved a proposal to nominate Shah for the position.
With this, the number of general secretaries in RSP has reached two. Kabindra Burlakoti has been serving as the party’s general secretary since June last year.
Shah had earlier served as the personal secretary of Prime Minister Balendra Shah, who is popularly known as Balen, when he was the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. He had faced defeat in the House of Representatives election held on March 5 in the Achham-2 constituency.
RSP President Rabi Lamichhane had agreed to appoint a member of Balen’s camp as a general secretary when the two joined hands before the election.
The Central Committee also decided to nominate Sagar Dhakal and Saritashree Gyawali as members of the party’s Secretariat.
Likewise, the Central Committee nominated Tulsi Prasad Chaudhary, Ram Singh Tharu, Jivan Dhami, Prema Chaudhary, Navaraj Rana and Ekraj Chaudhary to the Central Advisory Council, and Jeevan Prabha Lama, Moti Prasad Pangali, Hari Prasad Pandey, and Bishnu Hari Sharma to the Federal Leadership Council.
