ITAHARI: A man in Bhojpur killed four members of a family and surrendered to the police.
Police investigations show Rajendra Rai (35) from Helaucha in Bhojpur Municipality-2 killed his wife Manisha Giri, his wife’s father Bel Bahadur Giri, his wife’s mother Manju Giri and one Sapan Giri.
After committing the crime, Rai called the police and said he had killed four people.
During questioning, Rai said he killed the four in a fit of rage after his mother-in-law attacked him with a sharp weapon when a family dispute escalated. He also told the police that he reached his in-laws’ place at Dhodelkhani in Ram Prasad Rai Rural Municipality-2 to get his wife back.
Police have recovered the weapon used in the incident from the crime scene. All four bodies have been taken to the district hospital for post-mortem examination.
Rai, who also sustained injuries, has been taken to Bhojpur District Hospital for treatment.
According to Anand Bhujel, a local resident, the incident took place late Saturday night. “Rai, who had come to his in-laws’ house, was found to have killed the family. The entire village is shocked and gripped by fear,” Bhujel told Himal Press over the phone.
