KATHMANDU: Nepal Samajbadi Party (NSP) Chairperson Dr. Baburam Bhattarai met with Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday.
According to Dr. Bhattarai, the meeting focused on the formation of a socialist front. “We had an intense discussion on the Prime Minister’s recent visit to India, the budget, the remaining work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and the proposed socialist front, among other issues,” Bhattarai said after the meeting.
Bhattarai mentioned that the two leaders have agreed to hold discussions with all possible parties regarding the policies, programs, and organizational structure of the socialist front to preserve the achievements of the federal democratic republic.
It is said that the Maoist Center, CPN (Unified Socialist), and Janata Samajbadi Party are in discussions to form the front. Sources also suggest that preparations are underway to include the NSP and the Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand in the front.
