KATHMANDU: CPN-UML lawmaker Bhagwati Neupane has been appointed as the Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration.
President Ram Chandra Paudel Neupane appointed Neupane to the position on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Neupane is a member of the National Assembly.
The post had become vacant after Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Raj Kumar Gupta, tendered his resignation on Tuesday morning. A leaked audio clip had linked Gupta to a bribery scandal.
“The President has appointed Bhagwati Neupane as the Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration on the recommendation of the Prime Minister as per Article 76 (9) of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015,” a statement issued by the Office of the President said.
