BAGMATI: Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya has said that he is ready to support any initiative taken by any level of the state to promote good governance.
In a press statement issued on Monday, Baniya said he has taken the investigation into his political and professional life positively and remains committed to cooperating with any efforts to strengthen good governance.
Baniya’s response came after the Department of Money Laundering Investigation (DoMLI) conducted raids at his residence and offices on Monday.
Expressing concern over the sudden search, Baniya said he would have been physically present at any state agency to answer their queries. “As a responsible public office holder, I will extend full cooperation with any investigation carried out within constitutional and legal frameworks,” he added. “Since assuming office as Bagmati Chief Minister, I have prioritized good governance, transparency, and the creation of a corruption-free society.”
Baniya, who is also the president of the Nepali Congress Bagmati Province, is associated with Baniya Nirman Sewa—a construction company—among other businesses.
