KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak has said that attempts were being made to influence the investigation into the cooperative fraud case involving Rabi Lamichhane.
Speaking to journalists in Surkhet on Tuesday, Lekhak said that activities such as organing sit-sins at police offices and government attorney offices during the ongoing investigation have been observed. “The government is serious about protecting everyone’s human rights and claimed that the investigation into Lamichhane is being conducted fairly,” he said, criticizing the act of gathering crowds to disrupt the investigation.
Lekhak also said that it was unfortunate for the leader of the main opposition to make remarks that could interfere with judicial proceedings. He was referring to CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s criticism of prolonged detention of Lamichhane.
