KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has lifted foreign travel restrictions imposed on rape-accused national team cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane.

A division bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Kumar Chudal upheld Patan High Court’s decision to release Lamichhane on bail. Although the high court had released Lamichhane on bail on January 13, it had said that he cannot leave the country.

The bench heard both the application registered by Lamichhane seeking permission to travel with the national team to UAE and the Attorney General’s application against the high court’s decision to release Lamichhane on bail.

The bench, however, has ordered Sandeep to present himself at the District Court, Kathmandu, within 15 days of the end of the tournament.
