Ambassadorial nominee Sunar denies allegations against him Giri Bahadur Sunar

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s ambassadorial nominee to Saudi Arabia, Giri Bahadur Sunar, has claimed that the allegations against him are entirely baseless.

At a meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) on Wednesday, members had questioned Sunar about allegations of violence against women, financial dealings and his alleged deportation from Germany, among other issues. In response, Sunar said he had been in a romantic relationship with a woman 13 years ago and that a dispute between them had been settled through a mutual agreement at the District Police Range, Lalitpur.

He said he was being subjected to character assassination over telephone conversations and that another person had been repeatedly filing cases against him under a power of attorney.

Sunar claimed that no complaints had ever been registered against him and that he had never been convicted of any criminal offence.

Responding to allegations of major financial irregularities in transfers and promotions, he said the accusations were entirely baseless and had not been officially substantiated.

Sunar also denied the allegation that he had been deported from Germany.
