Ambassador Adhikari participates in Baishakhi celebrations in Pakistan Ambassador Adhikari celebrating Baishakhi with the Sikh community.

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s ambassador to Pakistan, Tapas Adhikari, participated in the Baishakhi celebration at the Gurudwara Sri Punja Sahib in Haasan Abdal, Pakistan, on April 13.

According to a press statement issued by the Embassy of Nepal in Islamabad, the Gurudwara has an imprint of the first guru of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev, and holds a very special place for Sikh religion.

“Baisakhi is a special day celebrated by the Sikh community to commemorate the foundation day of Khalsa Panth. Guru Govinda Singh, the 10th guru of Sikhism, founded the Khalsa order on Baisakhi day in 1699 in Anandapur. Punjab King Ranjit Singh was proclaimed as Maharaja also on the Baisakhi day in 1801,” the statement added.

A large number of Sikh devotees from different parts of the world participated in the Baishakhi celebration in Gurudwara Sri Punja Sahib. Likewise, the Pakistani Hindu community also joined the celebrations of Baisakhi day in the Gurudwara, according to the statement.
