KATHMANDU: Ainaa Jhyaal Ko Putali (Butterfly on the Window Pane) will be Nepal’s official entry in the 2023 Academy Awards popularly known as the Oscars.
The International Feature Film Selection committee of Nepal on Monday decided to send Ainaa Jhyaal Ko Putali to the Best International Feature Film category of the Osars.
Three films – Ainaa Jhyaal Ko Putali, Radha and Prakash – had applied to the committee for selection. The committee had invited filmmakers to send their films by September 15.
Issuing a statement, the committee said it selected Aaina Jhyaal Ko Putali based on the technical, presentation of dialect, and emotional analysis of characters among other factors.
The eight-member International Feature Film Selection committee of Nepal is led by Bimal Poudel. Rajendra Shalabh, Laxminath Sharma, Pradeep Upadhaya, Lokendra Parajuli, Raju Bikram Thapa, Chiranjivi Guragain and Samipyaraj Timialsena are the members.
