KATHMANDU: The Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal has seized 7,826.8 kilograms of marijuana from a truck in Udaypur district.
A joint team from the APF Intelligence Bureau, APF No. 4 Battalion in Sunsari and No. 5 Battalion in Udaypur intercepted the truck on the road connecting Divajor in Belaka-8 and Mainamaini Koshi Bridge based on a tip-off on Sunday, according to APF Nepal.
“The truck was carrying marijuana packed in 246 plastic sacks,” APF Nepal Joint Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa said. “The seized marijuana and the truck will be handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation and legal action.”
The APF Nepal has been conducting special operations to control drug trafficking, according to DSP Thapa.
“Our teams have also been running public awareness programs to discourage drug abuse and illegal drug trade,” he added.
