KATHMANDU: Two matches are scheduled for Monday in the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Kathmandu Gorkhas will take on Karnali Yaks in the first match at 12:30 pm, while Sudurpaschim Royals will face Chitwan Rhinos in the evening fixture at 5 p.m.
Kathmandu Gorkhas vs Karnali Yaks
Karnali Yaks will be looking to extend their unbeaten run and strengthen their position at the top of the table when they meet the Gorkhas on Monday afternoon.
They come into the match with high confidence having won both their fixtures so far. The Yaks beat Janakpur Bolts by one wicket and Biratnagar Kings by four wickets.
In contrast, Kathmandu Gorkhas are searching for their first victory. They suffered an eight-wicket defeat against Janakpur Bolts in their opening match. The arrival of Australian superstar David Warner will strengthen their batting lineup. However, it is not sure whether Warner, who joined the squad on Sunday, will be in the playing eleven.
The two sides have met each other twice in the NPL, with Kathmandu emerging victorious on both occasions. They defeated the Yaks by five wixkets in 2025 and three wickets in 2024.
Sudurpaschim Royals vs Chitwan Rhinos
The Royals take on Chitwan Rhinos in the day’s second match.
Sudurpaschim have won one and lost two of their three matches. After losing to Lumbini Lions in the opening fixture, they beat Pokhara Avengers by six wickets but suffered a 35-run defeat against Biratnagar Kings in their third match reduced to five overs.
Chitwan, meanwhile, have had a more encouraging start. They beat Biratnagar Kings by eight runs in their opening match, while their next fixture against Lumbini Lions ended without a result due to rain. With three points from two matches, Chitwan are yet to lose in the tournament.
The head-to-head record between the sides is evenly poised at 1-1. Chitwan defeated Sudurpaschim by 33 runs in the inaugural edition in 2024, while Sudurpaschim registered a 49-run victory in 2025.
