KATHMANDU: The government has dismissed Armed Police Force (APF) Additional Inspector General (AIG) Banshiraj Dahal from service for leaking sensitive information related to security.
The Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement on Friday that Dahal’s dismissal takes immediate effect.
AIG Dahal, who was entrusted with the responsibility of the Prime Minister’s official residence’s security, was suspended from his post on October 5 after being accused of leaking sensitive information.
The ministry said departmental action was taken against him for failing to comply with the code of conduct required of civil servants and police personnel.
According to the home ministry statement, the APF Nepal had recommended action against Dahal, accusing him of leaking sensitive security information and violating official conduct.
Government sources say AIG Dahal was in regular contact with former Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, who was allegedly influencing court decisions.
