KATHMANDU: Nepal will host Bangladesh for a three-match T20I series in March next year, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced on Wednesday.
According to CAN, the matches will be played on March 26, 28 and 30 at the TU International Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur.
The series will be Nepal’s first bilateral T20I series against an ICC Full Member on home soil. However, it will be Nepal’s second T20I series against an ICC Full Member. Nepal won the bilateral T20I series against West Indies 2-1 in Sharjah in 2025.
CAN Secretary Paras Khadka said the series will carry a message of solidarity, compassion, and friendship between Nepal and Bangladesh — two neighboring nations with strong people-to-people ties and a shared love for cricket. “Extending our appreciation to the Bangladesh Cricket Board for joining hands with us in making this series a symbol of friendship, remembrance, and solidarity,” he said in a social media post.
Nepal and Bangladesh have met twice in T20I cricket, with Bangladesh winning both encounters.
Their first meeting came during the 2014 World Twenty20, the fifth edition of the men’s T20 World Cup, in Chattogram, Bangladesh, on March 18, 2014. Bangladesh won the match by eight wickets. Batting first, Nepal posted 126/5 in 20 overs. Bangladesh chased down the target with 132/2 in 15.3 overs.
The two sides met again at the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup in Kingstown on June 16, 2024. Bangladesh won the match by 21 runs. Although Nepal bowled Bangladesh out for 106 in 19.3 overs, they folded for 85 runs in 19.2 overs in the chase.
