KATHMANDU: The death toll from the Bhotekoshi flood has reached 734, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
The authority said the bodies of 734 people have been recovered so far. Of them, 13 were found in Rasuwa, 52 in Nuwakot, 50 in Dhading, 58 in Gorkha, 184 in Nawalparasi East, 82 in Nawalparasi West, 36 in Tanahun and 259 in Chitwan.
A total of 2,498 people remain missing, according to the authority. They include 27 Nepal Police personnel, 45 Nepali Army personnel, 13 Armed Police Force personnel, 15 customs office employees and four immigration office employees.
According to NDRRMA, a total of 19,895 security personnel have been mobilized for rescue operations. The force includes 7,293 Nepal Police personnel, 8,399 Nepali Army personnel and 4,203 Armed Police Force personnel.
