RPP Instructs Assembly Members to Stay Neutral in Bagmati and Lumbini Confidence Votes
KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has directed its lawmakers in Bagmati and Lumbini provinces to remain neutral during the vote of confidence taking place in both provincial assemblies on Monday.
Bagmati Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya and Lumbini Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya are scheduled to seek votes of confidence on Monday.
Party Spokesperson Mohan Shrestha said parliamentary party leaders in both provinces have been instructed to issue whips to their respective assembly members to remain neutral in Monday’s vote.
“Chairperson Rajendra Lingden has instructed the party’s parliamentary party leaders to remain neutral in matters related to government formation in the provinces until a further decision is made,” Shrestha said in a social media post.
In Bagmati, Baniya of Nepali Congress is trying to save his government following withdrawal of support by CPN-UML. In Lumbini, however, Acharya is seeking a trust vote for his new coalition government with the Nepali Communist Party (NCP).
