Industrialist Binod Chaudhary objects to fake social media content using his identity

KATHMANDU: Industrialist Binod Chaudhary has expressed serious concern over the misuse of his name, photograph, statements and public identity in misleading, unverified and unauthorized content circulating on social media and other digital platforms.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Chaudhary said any content published using his name, photograph or identity has no connection with his official views, statements or involvement. He said neither he nor any of his authorized entities has been involved in producing, publishing or disseminating such materials.

Chaudhary said he has requested the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police and other relevant authorities to initiate legal action against individuals or organizations responsible for creating, publishing or promoting such content.

He also urged the concerned government agencies to remove such content and bring those responsible under the ambit of the law.

Chaudhary also requested people to rely only on information published by official news outlets and the official platforms of the Chaudhary Group.

An AI-generated video posted on a Facebook page on Monday features a cloned version of Chaudhary claiming that Nepalis can earn more than Rs 154,700 a week with an initial investment of about Rs 38,000.
