KATHMANDU: Nepal welcomed 72,653 foreign tourists via air in November.
According to Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a lion’s share of this arrival is from SAAR countries. A total of 24,599 visitors from SAARC member countries visited Nepal via air in the review period. Similarly, total arrivals from other Asian countries clocked 9,415 including 1,038 visitors from China.
This means the total number of foreign tourist arrivals via air over the first 11 months of 2022 has reached 546,216. The arrivals figure is lower compared to October when Nepal welcomed 88,582.

Data released by NTB shows 955 Japanese, 1,593 Malaysians, 791 Singaporeans, 1,679 South Koreans, 927 Myanmarese and 2,441 Thair visitors came to Nepal in the review month.
South Asia contributed about one-third of foreign tourist arrivals to Nepal in November.
Similarly, the country welcomed 17,229 visitors from European countries including 5,165 Britons. Data shows, 2,561 French, 2,292 German and 1,148 Dutch tourists visited Nepal in November. Data shows, Europe is the second largest tourist region in Nepal contributing about 24% of total arrivals.
Total arrivals from Australia and New Zealand stood at 3,375 and 302, respectively.
Likewise, total arrivals from the US during the month stood at 7,831. Data shows 1,184 Canadians visited Nepal in November.
The September-December period is regarded as the peak season for tourist arrivals in Nepal.
