KATHMANDU: The election process for the Bagmati Province Committee of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been suspended.
According to Bhuvan KC, chief of the party’s Central Election Commission, the process was halted as some time was needed to correct certain errors in the ballot papers and to complete the technical verification of the voter list.
“Also, we need to address complaints and disputes related to the adjustment of around 400 individuals,” KC said. “We also felt the need to deploy additional personnel to the provincial election committee to ensure the smooth conduct of the election.”
Following the suspension of the convention, delegates have returned home.
In a statement, the Central Election Commission said that a new date for voting and other information about the election process will be announced through an official notice at least 24 hours before voting begins.
Incumbent province president Achutam Lamichhane, Utsav Aryal, Hari Khatri and Krishna Man Shakya are contesting for the leadership of the RSP’s Bagmati Province committee.
