Govt created vacuum by removing officials of key institutions: NC

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party leader Bhishmaraj Angdembe has said that the government has created a vacuum by dismissing office bearers of sensitive institutions.

Speaking during the zero hour of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Angdembe stated that the government has created a vacuum by clearing out entire institutions, alleging that those appointments were made based on political power-sharing.

He drew the government’s attention to making crucial institutions, including the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, active by appointing competent and impartial individuals at the earliest. “Conflict victims are still deprived of justice even though it has already been two decades since the Comprehensive Peace Accord was signed,” Angdembe said.

Angdembe also said the fourth amendment to the Truth and Reconciliation Act was necessary before making new appointments, as the Act still has some shortcomings.

The government removed nearly 1,5000 political appointees from several state agencies by bringing an Ordinance on Special Provisions Relating to the Removal of Public Officials from Office, 2026.
